Alastair Gordon is one of Asia Pacific’s most experienced market research professionals. As well as heading Customised Research Services in Asia Pacific, Alastair has global responsibility for the Customised Research NPD function and Nielsen’s brand and customer equity services (Winning Brands and eQ),. Alastair was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and holds an MA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Canterbury. Alastair started his career in social research, working with the British Election Study at the University of Essex (UK), and the Department of Community Health at Auckland University.
After moving to market research in 1984, he held senior managerial and research positions in New Zealand, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia (including Managing Director of the ACNielsen companies in Philippines and Malaysia). In 1997, Alastair was charged with driving Customised Branded Product development and has worked on a range of initiatives including driving development and implementation of ACNielsen’s Winning Brands, @work (communications and packaging evaluation) and DeltaQual (Consumer decision-making analysis) services. Alastair’s extensive market research experience covers a wide range of countries, categories and methodologies. Alastair is member of ESOMAR and is Fellow of the MRSNZ.
